Description
This is the updated Battery Eating Doggy in the ‘SMT’ edition.
This means that the electronic components (including his brain: the chip) consist largely* of ‘Surface-Mount Devices’.
SMD components don’t protrude through the printed circuit board and are specially designed to be placed directly onto the copper tracks by robots: this process is called ‘Surface Mount Technology’ (SMT).
*To ensure this new version also looks nice and “dog-like,” I’m using a (non-functioning) rotary knob or an old-fashioned THT capacitor for his snout.
For the eyes, I’m using LEDs in different colors: feel free to specify your preferred eye color when ordering.
Both this Battery Eating Doggy in the SMT edition and the ‘Old Skool THT Battery Eating Doggy’ run on ‘dead’ AAA batteries.
In most cases, they’ll blink their LED eyes for at least six months on a dead battery.
Only when that stops is the battery REALLY dead!
