Designer, Artist & Inventor
- Eibert Draisma (Lusaka, Zambia 1966) graduated from the Design Academy in 1991 and has been a design and technology teacher at this academy since 1992;
- In 1989, Eibert invented and developed the world’s first talking coffee maker and since graduating in 1991, Eibert has given a lifetime guarantee on almost all of his products and has patented several inventions;
- In his studio on the NDSM site in Amsterdam, he works on a variety of projects: one time he develops a DIY heartbeat beeper for children, then again he designs a series of glass ‘sea cucumber lamps’ or all kinds of ‘Battery Eaters’ that really drain (seemingly) empty batteries;
- But he also enjoys writing a hilarious fairy tale for a comic magazine or training high potentials from large companies to “think more divergently”.
Workshops and lectures
- Eibert regularly gives lectures, workshops and masterclasses in museums, schools and for the business community. His favourite subjects include art and product innovation, divergent thinking, (new) technology education and artificial intelligence;
- Since 2013, Eibert has been affiliated with Speakers Academy as a keynote speaker;
- In 2019, Eibert* provided four different (custom made) technology workshops for a few thousand Heijmans employees during the Heijmans staff day;
- On January 30 and 31, 2020, Eibert* provided four different technology workshops (custom made) in the RAI Amsterdam to more than 4000 (international) employees of travel organization Booking.com
(*assisted by a team of his own Design Academy students).
Radio, TV and Publications
- Eibert regularly contributes to TV programs (including Klokhuis) and has, among other things, devised and developed a TV series about artificial intelligence for NCRV-Kro (Concept, format and 6 episodes).
- In 2020, Eibert participated as an expert and jury member in the TV program Briljant! (6 episodes, NPO1) and gave a Brainwash lecture (for Human TV) about Artificial Intelligence and the future of humanity.

- In 2023, Eibert was associated with the TV program “Wat een Uitvinding!” as an expert and jury member (7 episodes, Talpa TV / SBS 6): this program may have a sequel.
- Publications about his work have appeared in numerous national and international newspapers, magazines and trade journals.

De Museumfabriek, the National Glass Museum and others. - In 2021 and 2022, Eibert worked as a designer and (technology) advisor for a long period of time to guide artists and Technasiums on behalf of the Amsterdam Light Festival.
- Since 2020, Eibert has regularly collaborated with De Museumfabriek on a long-running (technology) workshop program for children. Eibert developed, among other things, a Wunderkammer “Thunder & Lightning!” (2022-2025 about weather phenomena) and a child-safe workshop variation on “Carbide Shooting” (for 2023 Christmas holidays), which, due to its great success, was also used extensively at festival
‘De Zwarte Cross’ in both 2024 and 2025. - In 2024, Eibert was one of the workshop supervisors of the glassblowing project “Voor de Vlam”: a collaboration between the National Glass Museum, the Leiden Instrument Makers School, the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and Design Academy Eindhoven.
Statement Eibert
“We live in a time of possibilities like never before, because almost everything we can think of can actually be made.
So let’s stay curious: pause more often, be amazed by and enjoy things that may not be as obvious as initially thought!
Science, technology and design, as theatre, fair, natural wonders or as a learning school”.
By fearlessly playing with various possibilities, I hope to inspire people to do that too.
So that we can playfully improve the world for everyone and everything that lives in it.
